TANZANIA

The African dream, from safari to the beaches of Zanzibar

Tanzania is the African safari in all its splendour. Golden plains stretching as far as the eye can see, ancient volcanic craters and wildlife of rare abundance: few destinations offer so many great moments in a single trip. Whether you are embarking on your first safari or you already know southern Africa, Tanzania will surprise you.

In the north of the country, the parks follow one after another like nowhere else. You will discover the baobabs of Tarangire, where elephants gather in the dry season, the Ngorongoro Crater with its exceptional concentration of wildlife, and then the vast plains of the Serengeti, home to lions, cheetahs and leopards — all in a private 4x4, accompanied by a French-speaking local guide who knows every track. And to extend the journey, head to Zanzibar with its white sand beaches, turquoise ocean and ever-changing colours that follow the rhythm of the tides.

But Tanzania also boasts exceptional cultural richness. With more than 120 ethnic groups, the country invites you to discover living traditions and share moments with its people — encounters that give the trip another dimension and leave memories that go well beyond the safari. Our itineraries mostly focus on the Northern Circuit and Zanzibar, but the wonderfully wild destinations in the south of the country are also possible.

Highlights

Big cats roaming vast plains, extraordinary safaris and encounters that go far beyond ticking boxes: Tanzania has it all! The Serengeti is home to one of the largest lion populations in Africa, and every 4x4 outing holds its share of surprises: cheetahs on the prowl, leopards perched in acacia trees, elephants at the waterhole... enough to fill your memory card on day one!

Tanzania is more than its parks. At the foot of Kilimanjaro, around Moshi, the Chagga villages open their doors: coffee picking and roasting, a walk to the Materuni waterfalls, a shared meal with a family.

Along the road between the parks, the village of Mto wa Mbu can be explored on foot or by bike, through rice paddies, banana groves and a lively market. And on Maasai lands, an entire way of life — herding, singing, traditions — unfolds before you. Simple, sincere moments that give the journey its true meaning.

Tanzania is also the ideal destination for combining bush and relaxation. After a few days on safari, a short flight drops you onto the beaches of Zanzibar. The contrast is striking, and the pace of the trip is yours to set!

Finally, we always make room for real encounters: a walk through a village, a shared meal, a moment with the locals. These are often the memories that stay with you the longest.

Serengeti

The Serengeti is arguably the most famous wildlife reserve in the world. Its name comes from a Maasai word meaning "endless plains", and it quickly becomes clear why: nearly 15,000 km² of golden savannah stretch beneath a vast sky, dotted with acacia trees and kopjes - rocky outcrops where lions love to bask.

The park is home to one of the largest lion populations in Africa, as well as cheetahs, leopards, elephants and giraffes, present throughout the year. And when evening falls, nothing beats a night in a bush camp in the heart of the park: settled comfortably under canvas, you drift off to the sound of hyenas and the distant roar of lions. Total immersion in the wild, exactly as you imagined it when you first dreamed of a safari.
